Darth Maul's Severed Darksaber
Beam color: Red Constructed by: Himself Features: Assumed variable beam height and power output controls Source: The Phantom Menace Notes: Following his assault on the Jedi Master Jinn in the wastelands surrounding Mos Espa, the Sith Lord Darth Maul followed the Jedi and his apprentice, the young Obi-Wan Kenobi, to the beseiged world of Naboo, where he made his final attack. The Dark Apprentice wielded his deadly double-bladed saber with terrifying precision, testing Kenobi and Jinn to the ends of their endurance and concentration. Finally, with young Obi-Wan trapped and unable to help, Maul overcame the weakening Qui-Gon with a quick stab through the midsection. In his following fury, Padawan Kenobi cleaved Maul's double saber in half, rendering one end completely useless. Maul continued the fight, but with only half his defense. In the final moments of the battle, the losing Kenobi made a miraculous effort and overpowered the Sith's reflexes, sending him toppling, with the remains of his saber, end over end (over end) down the Theed Palace control shaft. With the primary curcuitry of the lightsaber severed, it is unknown
whether the original functions of the single blade still operated.
Although the status of the blade height and power output controls can only
be left to speculation, it is known that the single activator of Maul's
saber still functioned, as he deactivated his remaining blade just before
his death.
