Notes:   Luke's second saber was the one that he himself built, in the confines of his master Obi-Wan Kenobi's hut on Tatooine.  Modelled strongly after Kenobi's second design, Luke's lightsaber was the final step in his Jedi training.  Now, only one thing remained before Luke could attain knighthood:  "You must confront Vader...  Only then, a Jedi will you be."  Luke was victorious in his final batttle with Vader and the Emporor, but lost Anakin Skywalker to Palpatine's Sith magic.  Luke continues to use his lightsaber for the defense of the Jedi order and the New Republic. 

As was mentioned, Luke's lightsaber bares a striking resemblance to the one Ben Kenobi lost aboard the first Death Star.  It shares the same ringed-grip design, as well as the side-mounted belt clip.  It's only functions are an on and off switch.
