Notes:   Following his surrender to the cloned Emperor on Byss, Luke temporarily put away his green-bladed saber in favor of a black, red-beam version.  Although it is likely that this saber belonged to the Emperor, it is possible that Luke constructed the weapon as part of his Dark Side training.  It was this saber that Luke used to against his sister Leia in their duel aboard the starship Eclipse.  Ultimately, however, Leia helped Luke overcome the veil of darkness, and the two escaped the Emperor's cataclysmic wrath.  Luke still has both of his lightsabers, but his darksaber is kept merely as a memento.

Luke's third saber embodies everything that the Dark Side represents.  Dark and brooding in design, it is riddled with wiring and circuitry, rather than the organic, durasteel design of traditional Jedi sabers.  It has no ring clip, and is also lacking an activator button; it is started by the wielder's strength in the Force.
